The San Francisco 49ers have moved on from a veteran before the start of training camp. They have released George Odum, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Odum has spent the past three seasons with the 49ers. Before that, he had played four seasons for the Colts as an undrafted free agent out of Central Arkansas.

George Odum was an All-Pro for the 49ers in 2022, but his time with the team has now come to an end after three seasons.

Deebo Samuel is gone -- he requested a trade, so the 49ers sent him to the Washington Commanders for a fifth-round pick. And now, Samuel reportedly has just 8 percent body fat.

Odum had been placed on the non-football injury list on Friday with a knee injury and now is off the roster entirely before the first training camp practice on Wednesday.

This year it will largely be the same group with a smattering of new veterans and a couple of rookies entering training camp. For the 49ers wide receivers the preseason will be all about steadying the ship at a position that's been rocky since last offseason.
