COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Appalachian State football team is hiring Dowell Loggains as its next head coach, the university announced Saturday evening.

Clark was 40-24 in five seasons with the Mountaineers, but his team dropped to 5-6 this year following a 29-20 loss to Georgia Southern.

Shawn Clark has been the head coach of App State’s football program since 2019. Clark graduated from App State with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 1998 and earned a master’s degree in education from Louisville in 2003, according to App State’s website.

Charlotte introduced their new head football coach on Monday to a packed crowd following a weeks-long search. Tim Albin laid out his vision for the the 49ers after being named the program’s fourth head coach.
