Several people have been displaced from their homes after an explosion and fire in the southeast Calgary neighbourhood of Mahogany on Thursday afternoon.

The Calgary Fire Department was called out to reports of an explosion and fire at a row of townhouses in the community of Mahogany shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Thurs. Nov. 21, 2024.

Firefighters battled a blaze touched off by an explosion at a townhouse complex in the southeast community of Mahogany Thursday afternoon. Crews responded to reports of the explosion and blaze in the 200 block of Mahogany Gardens S.E. where they found one unit at the end of a row of eight townhouses destroyed.

ATCO said it had crews in the area investigating reports a gas line had been hit at the time a Calgary townhome exploded and caught fire on Nov. 21.
