Over a hundred of Canada Post workers held a rally outside of the Crown corporation's head office in Ottawa on Thursday, as the strike job action by 55,000 postal workers nears the end of its second week.

The CUPW says Canada Post has been calling workers across the country to lay them off, and claimed some of the layoffs were permanent, which Canada Post denies.

The federal government says it is not planning to intervene to resolve the labour dispute at Canada Post, even with less than a month to go before Christmas.
