A majority of Charleston County voters said “no” to renewing a half-cent sales tax planned to fund transportation, drainage and greenbelt projects.Charleston County general election results showed 61% of voters rejected the transportation sales tax and use referendum.

Guilford County asked voters, once again, to vote on a quarter-cent sales tax increase. A whopping 59% of ballots cast were against the increase, with only 40% voting in favor. This particular referendum has failed multiple times in the last several years.

Voters in Charleston County resoundingly said “no” to renewing a half-cent sales tax that would fund road projects, mass transit systems and greenspace.

An Erie County ballot proposition that would allow Erie County legislators to continue the county's existing 8.75% sales tax with a simple majority vote failed Tuesday.
