Craig Counsell thought he was leaving the Milwaukee Brewers for greener pastures when he bolted for the Chicago Cubs last winter, but it was his former right-hand man, Pat Murphy, who won the NL Manager of the Year Award this season.

Pat Murphy took over as Milwaukee Brewers manager last offseason after Craig Counsell jumped ship for a division rival. One year and one division title later, Murphy won NL Manager of the Year. Murphy was named the winner on Tuesday,

“Pat Murphy led our team with an undaunted presence that resonated throughout the clubhouse from the first day of spring training and into the postseason,” Brewers Vice President and General Manager Matt Arnold said. “His steady leadership was a major factor in the team’s success in 2024 and we could not be happier for Murph and his family.”
