Texas House Democrats who have left the state to block a vote on redistricting were hosted by California leaders on Friday.

Gov. Gavin Newsom and California legislative and congressional members stood with Texas state lawmakers in their opposition to President Trump's plan to redraw voting maps to hold onto power in the midterm election.

Six Texas state Democrats appeared in Sacramento on Friday, backed by Gov. Gavin Newsom and House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, and said despite legal threats, they would not back down from their efforts to retaliate against Republican efforts to recarve congressional districts.
