Office of Community Planning and Development: The Trump administration is aiming to cut the office, an arm of the department of Housing and Urban Development, from 936 staffers to 150, or 84%, the New York Times reported, citing a document it obtained detailing the plans.

A tearful executive at the U.S. Internal Revenue Service told staffers on Thursday that about 6,000 employees would be fired, a person familiar with the matter said, in a move that would eliminate roughly 6% of the agency's workforce in the midst of the busy tax-filing season.

While other federal agencies in Shasta County operate under a cloak of silence, an official at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area confirmed the Trump administration has "let go" some employees who work there.
