U.S. President Joe Biden said on Thursday the Israel-Gaza war must end now and Israel must not occupy the enclave after the war, telling reporters his ceasefire framework had been agreed on by both Israel and Hamas but there were still gaps to close.

When asked whether there is anything he wishes he had done differently during the Israel-Hamas war, Biden points to his first visit to Israel after the October 7 attack. He adds that Israel has been "less than cooperative" about getting aid into Gaza.

JERUSALEM — Israel issued a sweeping directive for all Palestinians to leave Gaza City on Wednesday, sowing mass confusion and fear among hundreds of thousands of affected residents. Leaflets dropped over Gaza City warned it was a “dangerous combat zone” and told civilians to flee south along two designated routes and toward shelters in central Gaza.

The bombs had been part of a shipment that President Biden withheld out of concerns over civilian deaths in Gaza.

The Biden administration will send 500-pound bombs to Israel that had been held up since May over concerns about the Rafah invasion. But 2,000-pound bombs are still under review.

The United States will resume shipping 500-pound bombs to Israel but will continue to hold back on supplying 2,000-pound bombs over concerns about their use in Gaza, a U.S. official said on Wednesday.
