After a Minnesota state senator resigned this week over allegations he sought sex from a minor, candidates are announcing their intentions to run for his vacant seat.

Republican Justin Eichorn, within hours of abandoning his seat in the Minnesota Senate, is scheduled to appear in federal court Thursday afternoon on allegations that he solicited prostitution from a Bloomington police detective posing as a 17-year-old girl.

As it became clear senators would oust Justin Eichorn, he tendered his resignation. His criminal case path carries more severe possible sanctions.
