While he stays linked to Michigan, 247Sports' Chris Karpman reported that Dillingham and Arizona State are nearing an agreement on new contract terms. Since taking over as head coach in 2023, the Sun Devils have gone 22-16 and even made a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024.
Karpman alluded to the fact that Dillingham would like to be able to hire a general manager as well. Many programs have undergone this maneuver, perhaps most famously Stanford's hiring of former quarterback Andrew Luck as the general manager of their program.
