LOS ANGELES — Kristaps Porziņģis was formally introduced as a member of the Golden State Warriors before Saturday’s game and is excited about the opportunity of playing with a veteran team that he believes he can help.
It's been five long years in Golden State, and the Jonathan Kuminga saga is officially over. The Golden State Warriors are reportedly trading Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks for Kristaps Porziņģis.
As the Golden State Warriors look to make a playoff run, they will hope Kristaps Porziņģis can stay healthy to get them there after acquiring him from the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.
The Warriors have added a frontcourt presence in Kristaps Porziņģis, trading Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to Atlanta.
If the Golden State Warriors are going to eventually trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, as is their current pursuit, it will not happen with using Jonathan Kuminga as a trade piece with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Warriors are instead sending Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks for Kristaps Porziņģis.
This rings particularly true for Kristaps Porziņģis, the new addition to the Golden State Warriors, who recently expressed his determination to make a significant impact in his upcoming debut after the All-Star break.
Jonathan Kuminga is, at long last, no longer a member of the Golden State Warriors. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Kuminga along with Buddy Hield is headed to the Atlanta Hawks for Kristaps Porziņģis—who is, notably, not Giannis Antetokounmpo. But more on this in a minute.
