The San Diego Padres have joined the group of teams that are looking to add Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. ahead of Thursday's trade deadline.

It seemed like the White Sox developed a star in 2023, when center fielder Luis Robert Jr. slashed .264/.315/.542 with 38 homers and 80 RBI in 145 games. The Cuban international team member garnered All-Star and Silver Slugger honors that season, but his production has dipped since then.

If they're looking to go the center field route, Luis Robert Jr. of the Chicago White Sox makes sense for the Phillies. Once an All-Star in 2023, Robert has had back-to-back down years, but he could catch lightning in a bottle for two months if he maintains his current hot streak at the plate.
