Australia's No.3 batter Marnus Labuschagne is coping with severe criticism for his performances in the last two years. The right-hander was unable to come up with answers to the fiery spell bowled by Jasprit Bumrah in the Perth Test as he returned with just five runs in the entire match.

Former captain Ricky Ponting however didn’t echo the same sentiment and reiterated the need to back ‘champion’ players. He highlighted that Labuschagne needs to find a way to turn things around and analysed both his innings of Perth.

Both Smith and Labuschagne were far from their best as the Australian batters produced a disappointing display, resulting in a whopping 295-run defeat against India at Perth.
