A ballot measure to close a 2-mile stretch of San Francisco’s Great Highway passed with 54% of the vote in returns released Saturday afternoon. The controversial proposal, known as Proposition K, will ban vehicles on the city’s westernmost coastal boulevard between Lincoln Way and Sloat Boulevard.

Thanks to recently-passed Proposition K, part of the Great Highway along Ocean Beach will be permanently closed to cars – a result that is dividing many residents.
