A local organization is coming together to protest against President Donald Trump and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests in downtown San Antonio on Saturday.
The mayor and the police chief said the governor did not notify them of the military deployment. They also have no details about the soldiers’ mission. They said the city is prepared to oversee peaceful demonstrations at the Alamo tonight and at Travis Park on Saturday.
Gov. Greg Abbott has deployed the Texas National Guard in response to protests, but Corpus Christi police are not aware of any local deployments.
