The F-7 BGI jet, a variant of a Chinese fighter, crashed into the campus of the Milestone School and College, in the Uttara neighborhood of Dhaka. The pilot was among the dead, according to the military and a fire official, and 171 people, mostly students, have been injured.

Some students entered the country’s administrative headquarters and were dispersed with tear gas and stun grenades.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the military, said over 160 people were injured and are undergoing treatment at 10 hospitals. The toll is expected to rise as some of the injured were reportedly in critical condition.
