FOX Weather Correspondent Robert Ray is in Jamaica ahead of Hurricane Melissa's landfall expected Tuesday morning. The Category 5 hurricane is expected to deliver deadly storm surge, life-threatening and catastrophic flash flooding and landslides and destructive winds.

With the help of satellites, we are beginning to get an understanding of just how catastrophic Hurricane Melissa was. On Oct. 28, Hurricane Melissa became the fourth hurricane in 75 years to make landfall on the island of Jamaica and shattered several Atlantic hurricane records.

Category 5 Hurricane Melissa sped up early Tuesday making landfall in Jamaica around 1 p.m, tying the record for the strongest landfall in the Atlantic.

Now, satellite images reveal in detail the areas ravaged by Melissa and, for hard-hit Black River, the scale of destruction. A Bloomberg News analysis found that at least 76% of the buildings in Black River, a port community near where the hurricane crashed into the Jamaica coast, were damaged, many with collapsed roofs.

Jamaican officials announced plans Saturday to set up multiple field hospitals as it recovers from Hurricane Melissa, with the death toll numbering at least 50 across the Caribbean -- and
