Voters in Minnesota went to the polls Tuesday in the 2025 election. Minneapolis and St. Paul both held contested races for mayor, while voters in dozens of school districts decided what will happen to requests to raise taxes to help pay for improvements to schools and programs.

The Edina City Council was prepared to vote on a gun control ordinance Tuesday night, but Mayor James Hovland put it on hold until there can be a public hearing for residents to weigh in. Even if it were to pass, Minnesota state law says local governments cannot enforce gun bans.
Minn. (KTTC) – Minnesota beef producers will be able to vote on a proposed beef checkoff increase. Since 1968, there has been some form of the beef checkoff. In 1968, a federal bill was passed mandating a $1 per head checkoff for every state. In 2025, Minnesota beef producers still pay that same fee.

Minnesota beef producers will have the opportunity to vote on a proposed refundable increase of 50 cents per head to the state’s current beef checkoff. It’s been more than 30 years since the last checkoff increase, when the Federal checkoff was implemented for all U.S. beef producers at $1.00 per head.
The increase in Minnesota would come with the option to get the 50 cents refunded, but the cattle industry in the state says increasing the checkoff would help producers.
