The results are in for the New Jersey governor’s race, and the state is staying blue. Democrat Mikie Sherrill beat out Jack Ciattarelli, a Republican backed by President Trump who had aimed to turn the reliably blue state red.

Voters across New Jersey cast their ballots Tuesday in the 2025 General Election for state, county and local seats, including for school boards, bond referendums and public questions.

President Trump has loomed over the race for New Jersey governor. The Republican, Jack Ciattarelli, has run for the seat twice before, but this time he has the president’s endorsement. The Democrat, Representative Mikie Sherrill, has made opposition to Mr. Trump a focus of her campaign.
