Staying hurricane ready as Atlantic hurricane season kicks off
Hurricane season is officially underway in both the East Pacific and the Atlantic, and states are encouraging residents to be hurricane ready. The Salvation Army is one organization that helps people in the wake up disaster.
The NOAA outlook for the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, which runs June 1 to Nov. 30, predicts a 35 percent chance of a near-normal season, a 10 percent chance of an above normal season and a 55 percent chance of a below-normal season.
