Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defense systems intercepted 70 Ukrainian drones over six regions, including 34 over the Moscow region.

Russia and Ukraine have exchanged record numbers of drone strikes, with Moscow launching a total of 145 drones on Saturday night – the most ever in a single night-time attack of the war.

Russia increased the intensity of its long-range drone attacks on Ukrainian cities by around 44% in the week following President-elect Donald Trump’s election victory.

In an escalation of the ongoing conflict, Ukraine carried out its largest drone strike on Moscow, launching at least 34 drones at the Russian capital.

Ukraine spent the last week defending its territory from sustained attack by the Russian military, including dozens of drone incursions overnight into Sunday, as fears that 1,000 days of war could escalate into World War III went mainstream.

Ukraine on Sunday showed journalists fragments of the Russian missile used to strike the city of Dnipro last week, after Moscow said it had tested its new Oreshnik ballistic missile.

Over the past week, Russia has launched over 800 KAB-guided aerial bombs, nearly 460 attack drones, and more than 20 missiles, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Nov. 24.

This is the first time Russia has used its so-called Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile in combat. The launch also serves as a warning to the West.

The Ukrainian Air Force claims that Russia launched a conventionally armed intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) today at the city of Dnipro, in the center of the country. In either case, the act is unprecedented for the war in Ukraine and it would mark the first use of either one of these types of weapons in combat anywhere.
