Marvel Rivals is setting up to be a promising free-to-play title, but its newest monetization update has gotten fans even more excited.

In NetEase Games' final Marvel Rivals announcement before launch, the studio dives into currencies, cosmetics, battle passes, and freebies.

Like most shooters, Marvel Rivals will include seasonal battle passes. However, unlike most games in the genre, purchased battle passes won't expire at the end of a season. Players will instead be able to continue making progress on old battle passes after the end of a season, much like the battle pass system in Halo Infinite.

Like Overwatch, the character roles determine how a certain hero is supposed to be played, supporting other players in the team in pre-determined ways. Here is a basic rundown of each Marvel Rivals role: Vanguard - These characters can deal heavy damage and shield allies from harm, essentially working as "tanks" in other hero shooters.

Marvel Rivals is expected to launch soon on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, which has fans wondering about its release date and time. This hero-shooter lets players play as various Marvel heroes and villains in various PvP matches.

In a new PlayStation blog post, Marvel Rivals producer Stephen Wu revealed that the game will target 60fps at 1440p on the base PS5. On PS5 Pro, the game runs at the same frame rate but at a higher resolution closer to 4K.

The most pop-culture relevant comic book appearances are destined to be big sellers in Marvel Rivals and their price shows the developers are aware of this too.
