Judges in Michigan and North Carolina rejected lawsuits brought by the Republican National Committee and others that challenged overseas ballots cast by voters abroad who never resided in the states.

Judges in Michigan and North Carolina have rejected a Republican attempt to have certain overseas and military absentee ballots thrown out.

A federal judge on Thursday tossed out half of the RNC's lawsuit alleging that North Carolina election officials allowed noncitizens to register to vote.

Both cases targeted people who have never lived in the state but were born overseas to parents who were residents of the state. The Michigan case also targeted the spouses of military and overseas voters.

A judge in Michigan on Monday rejected an effort by the Republican Party to block some Americans who are living overseas from voting in the battleground state. The Republican National Committee filed a lawsuit earlier this month arguing that election laws in the state improperly allowed U.

Judge Sima Patel ruled the effort was mounted too close to Election Day, calling it an "11th hour attempt to disenfranchise" voters.
