Local universities and colleges across the country continue to report international student visas being revoked.
The terminations of the UNC students’ visas comes after similar revocations at NC State University and Duke University, as well as dozens of universities around the country.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security terminated each student’s visa due to “unspecified criminal charges,” according to the university. The loss of the F-1 visa means each student must leave the country within 15 days. Staying longer risks arrest or deportation.
Federal immigration officials are rescinding the legal status of some international students, using rarely invoked powers.
We shouldn’t just think of this as ‘the problem for international students’ or the problem for ‘those people’ who might not have paperwork or documentation,” Wu said.
