Nasa has released details of robotic landers, hopping drones and vehicles it aims to send to the Moon as part of US plans to build a lunar base. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos's space company Blue Origin is one of several companies picked to build the machines.

After the success of the Artemis II mission, NASA could be putting a new zip code on the moon. The space agency wants to build a permanent base on the moon for astronauts to eventually live and work.

They said the goal is to collect as much research as possible from now until 2039, when they expect to have multiple crews operating at once. Kay Angrum with the details.

NASA officials announced contract awards for the initial elements of a lunar base on Tuesday, including two rovers that will provide mobility to astronauts. With the series of announcements, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman sought to maintain momentum around a Moon Base initiative revealed two months ago as part of the space agency’s return to the Moon.

NASA gave an update from Washington D.C. headquarters on its progress to build an outpost on the lunar surface with a far-reaching goal to bring humans to Mars.

On Tuesday, NASA announced contracts for lunar landers and cargo landers planned for missions to the moon, as well on some details on those missions.
