The Gathering cards that are banned in EDH have started spiking in price, as players hope for sweeping format changes under WotC.

Wizards of the Coast now controls Commander, and the prices of the recently banned cards are rebounding as a result. Though WotC has stated reversing bans isn't a priority, the market is still responding to the announcement.

The rules committee agreed, banning the four cards that had come to dominate decks in the Commander format. “The philosophy of Commander prioritizes creativity, and one of the ways we have historically reflected that in the rules and banlist is to encourage a slower pace of game,” the committee wrote in a blog post.

The Gathering’s Commander format are reeling from a surprise ban announcement. Millions in sought-after cards are now effectively worthless.

Wizards of the Coast has officially been handed the reins over Magic: The Gathering's Commander format. The move was announced in a September 30 Twitter post by acclaimed Magic: The Gathering content creator and Commander Rules Committee member Jim Lapage.

After death threats levelled against the independent rules committee over recent card bans, Wizards of the Coast has taken over the format.

Cards that are banned cannot be legally included in a player's main deck or their sideboard, and any cards on the list cannot be played legally in the respective professional form

The Gatherin's hugely popular Commander format at the behest of the Commander Rules Committee in the wake of the controversial bans of Jeweled Lotus and other popular cards.
