It's no secret that former New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso is going to command a lot of attention in free agency this offseason. And rightfully so. Since making his debut in 2019, Alonso has the second-most home runs (226) in all MLB,

The Yankees and Mets could be going after the same first baseman this offseason — and his name is not Pete Alonso. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, “there are at least six teams who plan to aggressively pursue” free agent first baseman Christian Walker.

There are expected to be many teams looking to bring in the four-team MLB All-Star entering his age-30 season, and there is no clear favorite to be Alonso’s next team.

The Mets are making pitching a "priority" in MLB free agency as they also remain linked to Juan Soto and Pete Alonso.
