Wildfire smoke is choking Wisconsin for a third straight spring. The hazy, dirty air from Canada — “some of the highest concentrations of particulate air pollution on record,” according to a state health official last week — irritated eyes and allergies while increasing the risk of asthma and heart attacks.
Dozens of fires are burning in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, causing evacuations and states of emergency as smoke is being blown into the Midwest, causing air quality alerts.
