Andrew Cuomo vows to stay in the NYC mayoral race as an independent following his primary defeat, joining a general election that includes incumbent Mayor Eric Adams.

Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that he will continue his run for New York City mayor after losing to Zohran Mamdani in last month's Democratic primary. "I'm in it to win it," Cuomo said in a post on X.

In the weeks since the primary, several prominent donors who had been supportive of Cuomo pledged their support to Adams in the general election, including billionaire hedge-fund managers Dan Loeb and Bill Ackman, both of whom have become so entwined with the Adams operation that they have helped vet campaign hires.
