MARA has officially agreed to buy a wind farm in Hansford County, Texas. The farm has 114 MW of nameplate wind power and 240 MW of interconnection capacity. This happened after the Texas utility regulator tightened rules for Bitcoin miners using the (ERCOT) grid.

One of the world’s biggest Bitcoin miners is buying a wind farm to power its operations as big tech firms increasingly suck up available sources of electricity for their own data centers.

MARA (MARA) announced entering into a definitive agreement to acquire a wind farm in Hansford County, Texas, with 240 MW of interconnection capacity and 114 MW of nameplate wind capacity. MARA will develop and operate a behind-the-meter data center powered entirely by the sites 114 MW of wind capacity at zero-marginal energy cost.

Marathon Digital Holdings (MARA) has acquired an onshore wind farm in Texas with the intention to develop and operate a behind-the-meter Bitcoin mining operation on the site.
