Texas sought help from actor Glen Powell to present a surprise to walk-on linebacker Marshall Landwehr. Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian introduced a video of Powell announcing that Landwehr was being awarded a scholarship for his efforts on the field.

The only two players remaining in the program from the 2021 Texas Longhorns that went 5-7 are Michael Taaffe and Marshall Landwehr. Taaffe was placed on scholarship just before the 2022 Alamo Bowl. On Tuesday,
