Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd provided an update on Dallas' injured guard Luka Doncic after the star lead initiator was injured against New Orleans on November 19.

Dallas improved to 4-1 in games where Luka Doncic has not played this year, as Doncic missed the contest due to a right wrist sprain. The Mavs' success despite Doncic's absence has been important, and after the game Kidd explained how Dallas is finding ways to win.

Luka Doncic is the heart and soul of the Dallas Mavericks. At times, the European superstar has a tendency to overwork his body which can lead to problems in the long run. In the 2024-25 NBA season, Doncic was putting on extra minutes and ultimately suffered multiple injuries that have sidelined him.

With Luka Doncic, Klay Thompson, and Daniel Gafford out, Dallas started Kyrie Irving, Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall, PJ Washington, and Dereck Lively II, while the Knicks rolled out former Maverick Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Brady, for the record, sat courtside and was in town to call Thursday’s Cowboys vs. New York Giants game for Fox Sports. He attended Junipero Serra High in San Mateo, Calif., which was just across the San Francisco Bay from Kidd’s alma mater, St. Joseph Notre Dame in Alameda.

The team was unable to cope with the absence of their star player and accumulated defeats in games in which they did not know what to play without their compass.
