The Minnesota Wild hit the ice for the first time as a team Thursday for the start of training camp. The Wild enter this upcoming season with a healthy roster. The Wild finished with a 39-33-10 record last season and missed the playoffs for the second time in the last 12 seasons.

3 Northlanders land on the Minnesota Wild’s training camp roster
Three skaters with Northland ties have landed on the Minnesota Wild’s 57-man Training Camp roster. They are Grand Rapids natives Gavin Hain and Jack Peart, and Hermantown’s own Ryan Sandelin. Hain and Peart also recently competed for the Wild in the Prospect Showcase last weekend. They both finished off last season with the Iowa Wild in the AHL.

The Wild will begin training camp on Thursday, their first with head coach John Hynes, who replaced Dean Evason in late November with the Wild on a 5-10-2 skid and led the team to a 34-24-4 finish. He’s eager to lay the groundwork for some schemes he wasn’t able to apply on the fly last season.
