The CBS News New York First Alert Weather Team is watching for the potential of a storm that may disrupt travel plans in the Tri-State Area on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Some tri-state residents woke up to a couple of inches or more of snow on Friday. While most of the immediate New York City area, some towns north and west of the city, especially at higher elevations,

The fire, the latest of several in the region over the weekend, had caused one death and was not contained as of Sunday afternoon, officials said.

The atmosphere is shifting into a new pattern that will bring much-needed rain to the Tri-State Area late Wednesday. There may even be snow in parts of New York.

Rain (at long last!) arrives overnight tonight and could bring a quick inch or two to much of the tri-state by sunrise Thursday. Light showers will linger through the rest of the week, but the big news will be the heavy rain Thursday morning.
