The Guardians have the longest no-hitter drought in the majors.

Cleveland Guardians pitcher Gavin Williams came within two outs of throwing the first no-hitter in the franchise’s history in over 40 years when he pitched against the New York Mets on Wednesday afternoon.

Cleveland’s starter nearly threw a no-hitter, pitching 8.2 innings, walking four batters, and striking out six. The only hit and run Williams allowed was a solo home run off the bat of Juan Soto in the bottom of the ninth inning with one out.
