A judge in Michigan on Monday rejected an effort by the Republican Party to block some Americans who are living overseas from voting in the battleground state.

A Michigan state judge has dismissed a Republican lawsuit that challenged the swing state’s long-standing process for voting by U.S. citizens living abroad, including military members.

Lawsuits have been filed in Pennsylvania, Michigan and North Carolina that challenge the validity of ballots cast by U.S. citizens living abroad, including military members.

State judges in Michigan and North Carolina on Monday rejected the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) separate challenges to certain overseas ballots in the key swing states. The RNC alleged the two states were improperly accepting overseas ballots from people who never lived in their jurisdictions.

Judge Sima Patel ruled the effort was mounted too close to Election Day, calling it an "11th hour attempt to disenfranchise" voters.
