When the opportunity arose, the San Francisco Giants pounced. The Giants have a deal in place to acquire star slugger Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox for a four-player package, and they're taking on the $260 million or so owed to Devers through 2033.

The Giants sent Jordan Hicks, Kyle Harrison, outfield prospect James Tibbs III and minor league righty Jose Bello to the Red Sox.

Since Barry Bonds retired in 2007, the San Francisco Giants have not had a player launch 30 homers in a season. That not-so-fun fact — which has stretched through a golden era of San Francisco baseball — is, all of a sudden, in jeopardy. That’s because Rafael Devers, he of 215 career long balls, is now a San Francisco Giant.
