Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT) announced that it will hire about 100,00 additional seasonal team members as it prepares for strong holiday demand. The hiring plan is consistent with the level of holiday hiring by the Minneapolis-based retailer in each of the last three years.

Target said on Monday that it would hire about 100,000 seasonal employees, in-line with what it had hired for the last three years, as the retailer gears up for its all-important holiday period.

Richfield-based Best Buy and other retailers also are stretching the ever-important holiday retail season as long as possible. Both retailers have acknowledged they must work hard to entice consumers who are shopping more selectively. Spending during the holidays is projected to increase by the smallest increment in the past few years.

The seasonal staff will be assigned to Target’s stores and supply chain facilities, with the majority being stationed in stores. This follows Bath & Body Works BBWI announcement last week to hire 30,000 seasonal employees, mirroring its 2023 figures.
