AI-powered search engine Perplexity says it's building its own web browser. It'll be called Comet, and it's set to arrive 'soon.'

The company is offering scant details about this browser called Comet, so I asked Perplexity AI for more information.

In a post to X on Monday, February 24, Perplexity announced Comet, describing it as “A Browser for Agentic Search by Perplexity”. Clicking through from that post allows you to sign up to be among the first to use the browser when it becomes available. There’s no word on when that will be just yet

With the introduction of Comet, Perplexity will be stepping into a highly competitive browser market, which is already dominated by established players like Google Chrome. The market has several third-party alternative browsers, including the soon-to-be-launched Dia browser from The Browser Company.
