Games have been a hot topic of discussion in college football to start 2025. Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule got fans talking a lot about them in February when he elected to cancel Nebraska's annual Spring Game in April.

“Oregon and Dan Lanning have agreed on an amended 6-year contract that increases his annual pay by $2 million, sources tell @YahooSports,” Ross Dellenger said in a post. “The fully-guaranteed deal averages nearly $11M annually – a significant investment by the university putting the 38-year old top 5 nationally.”

Ahead of the 2025 college football season, programs around the country such as Texas, Ohio State, USC and Nebraska are deciding to cancel their spring game. While Texas' Steve Sarkisian has insisted Texas is using the time to acclimate its 27 new players, Nebraska's Matt Rhule did so out of fear of players being poached via the transfer portal.

As long as Dan Lanning is at Oregon the Ducks will play real football during their spring game. While the growing trend nationally has been for teams to abandon spring games in favor of traditional practices or fan-centric events,
