CBP officials said officers made the discovery after flagging the wheelchair for an X-ray when they noticed the cushions appeared to be unusually large.

A drug bust at George Bush Intercontinental Airport revealed 12.16 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside a compartment of a motorized wheelchair, border agents revealed. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the seizure Wednesday after the drugs were discovered in late September.

There have been more than 498,000 pounds of drugs seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection this year. That's compared to nearly 550,000 pounds last year, and a whopping 913,000 pounds in 2021, according to the agency's drug seizure statistics.
