Motorists are warned to expect traffic chaos on Monday evening as the M25 and M26 remain closed more than 17 hours after a lorry fire - and the Dartford Tunnel remains part-closed following a separate incident on Sunday night.

Closures on the M25 and M26 due to a lorry fire are likely to last until midday, road users have been warned. The M25 is closed clockwise between J5 near Sevenoaks and J6 near Godstone/Caterham, according to Highways England. Diversions are in place.

The incident follows lengthy delays felt by motorists on Monday (October 21) after a vehicle leaked during overnight maintenance in the east tunnel. The tunnel was closed for several hours throughout the course of the day with motorists experiencing delays of several hours as they tried to navigate through the queues.
