Diogo Dalot can operate on either side but, having been last season’s player of the year, his form has perhaps suffered from switching so often. Noussair Mazraoui has been an excellent buy but possibly lacks the attacking flair Amorim would want in that role and may be better suited to the back three.

Manchester United are reportedly on the hunt for a new left-back, with Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim believed to be pushing for the signing of Argentine youngster Julio Soler. The 19-year-old Lanus defender has been turning heads with his impressive performances in the Argentine Primera Division and has even earned a call-up to the senior Argentina national team.
