The Wednesday afternoon start of the White Sox ’ game against the Phillies was delayed with rain moving into the Chicago area. Crews pulled the tarp on the infield ahead of the originally scheduled 1:10 p.m. start time. The team didn’t have an estimate for first pitch.

But the team will be without their rookie middle infielder for at least the next 10 days, as Meidroth was placed on the injured list Thursday with a right thumb contusion. As a result, infielder Jake Amaya has been called up from Triple-A Charlotte.
