In Utah, meteorologists warned of heavy snow in the Wasatch Mountains south of I-80, the Central Mountains, Southern Mountains and the Western Uinta Mountains, including along some interstates. "Winter driving conditions can be expected along all mountain routes, including higher passes along I-15 and I-70," the NWS office in Salt Lake City warned.

More than a foot of heavy, blowing snow is expected to fall on Telluride and other cities around Colorado’s San Juan Mountains this weekend, making travel dangerous.

Ski resorts and ski areas are beginning to make snow for the season, and Mother Nature is helping out and bringing snow from the sky as well.

It has been almost a month since Denver weather and parts of the state have seen rain or snow. The needed moisture will continue Saturday morning and will stick around through late Sunday before it dries out again.

The National Weather Service forecasts snow showers for areas south of Interstate 70 through mid-day Saturday and warned drivers to prepare for wintry conditions in mountain passes.
