The new set of car ramps I am now building as a gift for someone, will cost about $90 total for the 2 ramps: $40/2 x 12's; $30/angle iron; $20/bolts/eye hooks/misc. With the casters on the ends, the units are quite easy to move (roll) around.

If you are working on smooth concrete, some anti-slip strips glued to the bottom will help keep them in place as you drive on. A 1x2 (or 25x50 mm) added tot he end will keep you from driving off the ramps once you are on.

Be sure to observe all safety rules before crawling under the car: transmission in Park (or in first gear if a manual), parking brake on, chock the rear wheels if there is any slope, wear eye protection, be careful of hot exhaust and engine components.

High head is almost aways caused by overcharging, noncondensibles, or control failure. Plus, I thought all lines on auto ac’s were premaid with crimped fittings.

Instead, I would go to Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or an auto parts store and buy ramps that are smaller than the ones you have and will clear the front bumper and fenders. The smaller ramps are usually made of plastic, but I trust the ones I bought for working on my girlfriend’s car.
