We have a cottage in New Hampshire, in the Monadnock region (zone 5a). After my mom died in 2008 we sold her house and bought our place a few years later. She was a brilliant gardener, as was my grandfather, and gardening is a way to maintain that powerful connection. We went back this weekend after renting it out for the winter. It was so amazing to get back in the garden, see what was going on there and to tidy it up a bit. I've put so much work into this place and it truly is my happy place.
