On November 15, 1984, the Philadelphia Flyers held Bobby Clarke Night at the Spectrum to honor the legendary player’s contributions to the team. The Flyers retired Clarke’s #16 jersey, a fitting tribute to one of the franchise’s all-time greats. Clarke, who had retired after the 1983-84 season, was also recognized with the unveiling of the Bobby Clarke Trophy, awarded annually to the Flyers’ Most Valuable Player. A central figure in the Flyers' back-to-back Stanley Cup victories in 1974 and 1975
