The winds cleared to allow us to reinstall the Battleship’s foretop today. The 75,000-pound (almost 40 tons) foretop, which housed the primary directors for the 14” and 5” gun batteries, was removed for thorough repairs and painting inside and out in December. The foretop's repairs included significant major structural repairs, improving its watertight integrity and a complete coating system, inside and out, for the first time since 1948, and restoring its exterior closer to its 1945 appearance
